What does “perinatal” mean?

Perinatal simply refers to the time surrounding birth. For me and The Perinatal Place, that means supporting women Holistically from pregnancy through to birth and into the first few years of motherhood.

What does “holistic” mean?

Holistic means we look at the whole picture instead of isolated symptom solutions and we consider the full scope of life, situation, emotional, physical and personal circumstances when establishing the care that best meets your requirements.

Do you replace my midwife or health visitor?

No. I work alongside your existing maternity team, providing additional practical, emotional and holistic support outside of health care appointments.

Can I work with you during pregnancy?

Yes. Support can begin at any stage of pregnancy. In fact, I have a whole selection of beautiful treatments and services to keep you nourished, relaxed, informed and supported while you and your baby grow from pregnancy all the way to postpartum care.

What happens during a home visit?

Every visit is different depending on where you are on your path. Prenatal and pregnancy care might look like us preparing for birth through informed choice, having talks about how we can support your recovery, enjoying a restorative wellbeing session, maybe some Rebozo and body work or simply making space for a conversation over a cup of tea to process what's coming up. Or we may find ourselves tending to your Fourth Trimester, healing, bonding with bubs and recovery needs while gently processing your birth story, establishing feeding, giving you space to have a healing, herbal sitz bath while I watch your sleeping baby and do some light house work, post bath body massage and belly binding while we just give you some space to simply be breathe or cry or anything in between. Wherever we meet along your journey, there may be the occasional flower or a special or specific lotion, potion, herbal tonic tea, cream or crystal on the counter and a little trimester appropriate nutritional cookie or bliss ball on the side and postpartum care has got food for the next two nights left in the fridge covered with every visit so there's also that. Just that overall Holistic kinda Motherhood Village Care vibe brough right to your door, wherever you are.

What's the difference between Doula Work & The Gatherings?

Doula Work offers personalised one-to-one support, education and therapeutic services catering to you and your growing families requirements. Our Motherhood Gatherings are a community space centred around mothers and their little ones on the path of pregnancy to Motherhood. We gather weekly to walk, breathe, ground, relax, regulate and restore through guided therapeutic wellbeing practises, nature based play and the wholesome connections of the Mothers Village.    Embodied Therapy is the OG practice and if you know, you already  know.   Many women choose and benefit immensely from a pic 'n' mix of it all.
